Ritz-Carlton announces its second resort hotel in Hainan. The new project, in partnership with Hainan Golden Tide Tourism Development Co., Ltd., falls within the provincial government’s initiative to increase international tourism. The Ritz-Carlton, Nanyan Bay boasts a private oceanfront location near Wanning, with two beaches and the first Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in China. The Hainan government is pushing Wanning as a tourism hub with all-new infrastructure, including an airport, high-speed railway and roads. “Nayan Bay will be a sensational new resort destination for The Ritz-Carlton in the much heard about but relatively under-explored ‘Hawaii of the East.’ We are pleased to be working with our partners, Hainan Golden Tide Tourism Development, to create a new international oceanfront resort for sophisticated travellers looking to explore the unexplored,” said Herve Humler, president and COO, The Ritz-Carlton. The 244-guestroom hotel, featuring an additional 14 villas, opens next year. The resort offers five restaurants, including a Chinese restaurant, pool bar, grill and lobby lounge. A total 2,400 square metres of event and meeting space includes a grand ballroom. Guests can also enjoy a luxury spa, fitness centre, recreation pavilion and multiple pools. The development also plans to offer entertainment and shopping venues. Nearby, guests can visit a variety of secluded islands for watersports, or Dongshan Ridge, where Hainan’s oldest Buddhist temples are located. Natural hot springs and hiking are also found within the tropical rainforest setting.
