ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: I knew I was in for a thoughtfully curated experience the minute I stepped into the lobby of Hôtel Norman in Paris. Nestled just steps away from the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées, this hotel strikes the perfect balance between understated luxury and warm hospitality. Check-in was seamless. I was welcomed with a smile by Margo, who offered a refreshment and personally walked me through the property’s features. The lobby aesthetic — contemporary yet cozy with tasteful nods to mid-century design — set the tone for what would be a comfortable, quiet and stylish stay.

GUEST QUARTERS: My corner junior suite felt like a well-appointed pied-à-terre rather than a traditional hotel room. Floor-to-ceiling windows flooded the space with natural light, while neutral tones and plush textures made it feel inviting and serene. The bed was exceptional (firm yet cloud-like) and the seating area was perfect for morning coffee or winding down with a glass of Champagne after a day of sightseeing. The marble bathroom featured a rainfall shower, luxury and sustainable toiletries, and a heated towel rack, which was a very appreciated touch.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: The service throughout my stay was warm, prompt and never intrusive. The staff seemed to genuinely enjoy their work, offering great recommendations for local dining and facilitating transportation with ease. The on-site wellness space was compact but elegant, and the quiet garden terrace offered a calm corner to read or enjoy a drink. The breakfast spread was delicious — dare I say the quality rivaled any bistro in the area? Dining at Thiou, the hotel’s flagship restaurant, took the experience to another level. The delicate ways in which Chef Apiradee Thirakomen fuses Thai and French cuisine are nothing short of amazing.

TOP TAKEAWAYS:

  • Proximity to iconic sites like Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Élysées is a plus, but what stood out most was the hotel’s ability to feel intimate without being small and luxurious without being overdone.
  • Hôtel Norman is perfect for travelers who appreciate design, discretion and thoughtful service. It’s not just a place to stay, rather one to return to.
