Flydubai flight FZ981 crashed Saturday in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, killing all 62 people on board. In the aftermath, former employees are coming forward, claiming the airline’s crews are frequently overworked, leading to inevitable flight errors and mishaps — in this case, a deadly one. Some even admitted Flydubai pilots had previously fallen asleep during flight. When these issues are brought up to management, employees say concerns are ignored or, at worse, mocked.

The pilots during the time of the crash were both reportedly suffering from poor scheduling and too few days off, leading to sleep deprivation. One of the two men recently turned in his resignation for this reason.

Russian officials recovered a cockpit voice recorder from the wreckage, but say restoring the damaged device could take weeks. They are also investigating inclement weather as a possible cause for the crash.
