The newly opened Park Hyatt Zanzibar marks Hyatt’s first lodging contribution to the alluring African island of Zanzibar, part of a small archipelago in the Indian Ocean that was once a center of spice trading. The hotel is comprised of two buildings — the 17^th-century heritage Mambo Msiige, a traditional Zanzibari mansion built around a courtyard; and the purpose-build Zamani Residence, reflecting a blend of Arab, Persian, Indian and European influences in architecture and design.
