Bringing a taste of Munich to Waikiki, Outrigger Reef on the Beach will host its first-ever Oktoberfest event Oct. 17–19.
Guido Ulman, executive chef at Outrigger Reef on the Beach, draws on his German-Swiss heritage to prepare a cornucopia of traditional Oktoberfest dishes associated with Oktoberfest, welcoming guests and locals alike to enjoy traditional Bavarian food and festivities.
Trained in fine dining and boasting experience at several 5-star hotels including Hôtel du Rhône in Geneva, Eden au Lac in Zürich and The Schweizerhof in Lucerne, Ullman developed an interest in food while helping his mother prepare meals for his seven siblings.
“I love how food enables diners to visit another culture without hopping on a plane,” said Ulmann. “Oktoberfest at the Outrigger Reef provides a fresh opportunity for our guests to enjoy the flavors of Europe and the merriment of Oktoberfest traditions, right here on the shores of Waikiki.”
Dressed in authentic Bavarian dirndl and lederhosen, The Edelweiss Trio will perform traditional German music, bringing their particular brand of oompah to the islands.
