Oceania Cruises, known for serving the finest cuisine at sea, brings the flavors of traditional Cuban cooking on board. Oceania Cruises is introducing Cuban menus on all Cuba sailings that began with Marina’s inaugural voyage to Cuba March 7.
Mirroring its culture, Cuban cuisine is a vibrant mixture of spicy, sweet and savory elements. Guests have the opportunity to enjoy an array of iconic Cuban meals in the Grand Dining Room while the Terrace Café allows them to sample an exquisite Cuban Tapas menu during special evenings.
“With Frank Del Rio, the founder of Oceania Cruises, and many of our team members hailing from Cuba, our Cuban menus were created with great pride and passion, and reflect a deep understanding of the cuisine’s traditional roots,” said Bob Binder, president and chief executive officer, Oceania Cruises. “These menus feature many generations — old family recipes from our Cuban team members. The vibrant and authentic dishes offer flavors to please every palate — we are thrilled to be showcasing the celebrated cuisine of this captivating island on board our ships.”
Oceania Cruises’ guests now have the opportunity to sample classic dishes such as ropa vieja, a slowly stewed dish of shredded beef, mild spices, white wine and tomato; arroz con pollo, a Cuban staple of chicken and Arborio rice made with saffron; and crispy Malanga fritters, made from a root similar to a taro. Island flair seafood dishes will consist of fresh coconut, aromatic pineapple and sweet lime. Local tropical fruits and crafted local rums will transform into signature Cuban cocktails.
Guests can savor the finest cuisine at sea during Insignia’s six recently announced November and December 2017 cruises to Cuba.
