The Portola Hotel and Spa, located on the Monterey Peninsula of Northern California, offers meeting and conference planners the chance to host reduced waste events.
The hotel always favored environmental sustainability, but the new efforts put forth allow conferences to reduce their environmental impact as well.
“Reduced waste conferences are a great way to communicate to meeting attendees the importance to conserve natural resources,” says Janine Chicourrat, general manager, Portola Hotel. In order to host productive and sustainable events, meeting planners, attendees and hotel officials work together.
Some commitments from the hotel include environmentally friendly vendor suggestions, utilization of glassware and china to replace disposable cups and utensils and tracking daily waste.
