Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport announced plans to construct a new terminal, a plan born from a collaboration with American Airlines.
DFW’s sixth terminal will be called Terminal F and will help assuage increasing passenger traffic at the country’s fourth-busiest airport. As one of American Airlines’ largest and busiest hubs, the new terminal will add to the recently opened 15 new gates dedicated to AA.
Construction of the new terminal will also include improvements to the airport’s Terminal C and is currently scheduled to be completed by 2025. Although the design stage has begun, the final layout is still to be determined, but designers have an end goal of adding up to 24 gates to the new terminal and they plan to incorporate the needs of the modern-day traveler by removing the parking garage, as more travelers rely on public transit to reach the airport.
The overall investment in improvements to existing terminals and the creation of a new terminal totals nearly $3.5 billion.
