Changi Airport Group is conducting trials of new security technology at Changi Airport Terminal 3 through June. The CT security screening is created for hand-carry luggage and uses 3D screening to prevent the need for removing electronic devices from luggage. In further efforts to cut back on time needed for the security process, the new system will also feature an automatic tray return system. Two passengers will be able to deposit their bags at the same time, and the trays are automatically returned after the screening cycle, eliminating the need for staff to manually replace trays.

“At Changi Airport, we take safety and security seriously and are committed to maintaining the highest standards. We work very closely with the authorities to review and adopt new advanced technologies and process innovation to improve security screening and enhance the passenger experience at Changi,” said Alan Tan, vice president of aviation security, Changi Airport Group. “The data and passenger feedback we collect from the trials will help us assess the effectiveness and operational efficiencies of the new systems, before we ascertain their suitability for implementation at the airport.”
