A summer 2018 opening is planned for the new luxury AYANA Komodo Resort, Waecicu Beach on the Indonesian island of Flores. Located about an hour by plane from Bali, the property will enjoy distinction as the first (and only) 5-star property in the region. All 12 suites and 189 premium guestrooms will provide guests with ocean and Kukusan Island views. Check-in takes place on the 11^th floor, with guests then descending to their rooms on lower levels. Planned for a dreamy, Atlantis-like ambience, the resort will feature a rooftop bar, and a wedding and function suite.

Dining options include the lobby bar, HonZEN Japanese Restaurant and Kisik Seafood BBQ for all-day dining. Watery relaxation can be enjoyed on the private beach or in two main swimming pools. There’s also a separate pool for children and a kid’s club. Adult guests can workout in the modern fitness center or relax with pampering spa therapies. As an extra perk, guests have the option of booking two- or three-night sailing excursions around the island on the resort’s own Ayana Lako’dia, a 177-foot-long, 26-foot-wide, nine-bedroom traditional phinisi ship. Environmental initiatives will include raising funds and awareness of the legendary Komodo Dragons at Komodo Dragon National Park, with a focus on developing existing facilities and training Komodo Rangers.
