Heading to Denver, Colo.? Through dates in January 2016, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science presents two exhibitions that add up to a great who-dunnit. Headlining is “The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes” (through Jan. 31), an in-depth look into the world of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his master detective, Sherlock Holmes. The interactive exhibit includes an 1895 Victorian London underground train station, a recreation of 221B Baker Street where Sherlock and Dr. Watson mulled over clues and cases, plus Sherlock-related items from pop culture. Award-winning Arthur Conan Doyle biographer Daniel Stashower created a special Sherlock-esque case for visitors to solve while enjoying the exhibit.

The “Power of Poison” (through Jan. 10), a bone-chilling look at ways the natural world uses poisons to survive, plus poisons in literature and ways in which deadly substances have been the catalyst for major breakthroughs in medicine. Exhibition highlights include a recreation of a dense Columbian forest complete with live poison dart frogs and replicas of venomous insects, a scene from the Mad Hatter’s tea party from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, an Enchanted Book revealing myths around plants including belladonna and monkshood and dioramas that include Snow White and her poisoned apple and characters from Harry Potter, Lemony Snicket and Sherlock Holmes.
