The factors constituting a convenient airport go beyond efficient security lines (though this helps). From proximity to city centers and flight options to public transportation from the airport to final destinations, here is a list of the most efficient, user-friendly airports in the United States.
Boston Logan International sits just across the harbor from downtown Boston — so close you can get from the airport to your hotel in fewer than 10 minutes and less than $20 via taxi or Uber. As a focus city for all major U.S. airlines, it’s also a convenient hub for domestic and international flights.
Whether business, pleasure or a little of both bring you to the nation’s capital, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is only a quick ride over the Potomac to the National Mall. It’s also a huge hub for American Airlines, which operates near-hourly air shuttles to New York (LGA) and Boston (BOS).
Even closer to its own downtown area than Boston, San Diego International Airport lies a mere three miles from the city’s popular Gaslamp Quarter and Convention Center — roughly a $7 Uber fee. The major airport offers convenient non-stop flights to Canada, Germany, Japan, Mexico and the United Kingdom, and has low flight delay rates despite being named for having the busiest runway in the world.
In addition to being only a 15- to 20-minute ride to Dallas’ downtown area, Dallas Love Field (DAL) is a major focus city for Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines, and home to several full-service, fixed-based operators offering meeting rooms, car rentals, limousine services and restaurants, all from within the airport.
As the busiest airport in the Pacific Northwest, you’d almost assume significant delays and congestion, but Seattle-Tacoma International Airport consistently ranks highly for its efficient operations, clean facilities and efficient baggage system. The airport is also only 30 minutes from Seattle’s downtown area, accessible via LINK rail, car, Shuttle Express, taxi or bus.
