Marriott rolled out new features for the Marriott Mobile app. The app now offers members of Marriott Rewards a more tailored mobile experience, adjusting to personalize the user’s experience throughout their travels.

Key features include an enhanced version of the group’s mobile check-in/check-out and the mobile room ready alert system, which now offers loyalty members the option to request room upgrades and receive notification of fulfillment before arrival when checking in on the app. Late check-out requests, guaranteed for Gold and Platinum Elite Marriott Rewards members, are also available through the app.

“We know some of our most loyal guests stay with us upwards of 100 nights a year,” said Thom Kozik, vice president of loyalty, Marriott. “For them, along with members who stay less frequently, we can become a valuable part of their travel experience on a device they engage with 365 days a year.”

The app expands the group’s mobile request service and includes a chat option to speak directly with hotel staff, before, during and after their stays. The mobile key function is being expanded to more than 500 hotels this year, enabling members to skip the front desk and use their mobile device to unlock their guestroom.

Later this year, Marriott plans to introduce a real-time app messaging system, mPlaces, which will include travel and hotel information, recognition and deals.

The app is available for iOS users in five languages with an Android version to launch in the future.
