Marriott International will debut in Cambodia with the signing of two new hotels in the flourishing travel destination.
Marriott announced an agreement with Grand Lion Group for the construction of a Courtyard Marriott resort in Siem Reap and a Marriott resort in the beach destination of Sihanoukville.
The Courtyard by Marriott will open in April 2017, featuring 233 guestrooms, a restaurant, lobby lounge, rooftop bar with views of Angkor Wat, an outdoor pool, spa, fitness centre and ballroom. The hotel will be ideally located, only a 15-minute drive from a renowned UNESCO-listed temple complex. In February 2016, the Courtyard by Marriott, Siem Reap was awarded Best Hotel Development and Best Hotel Interior Design by the nationally recognized Cambodia Property Awards.
In the fourth quarter of 2017, construction work will commence on a new 250-room property, The Marriott. The upscale 5-star luxury resort in Sihanoukville will be located adjacent to a new residence and shopping mall and is scheduled to open in 2020.
Cambodia has seen a significant increase in tourism over the last decade, which is expected to continue. According to the Statistics and Tourism Information Department, Ministry of Tourism Cambodia, since 2004 Cambodia has seen a growth of more than 3.4 million tourists annually.
