Malaysia’s New Green City Expected To Fuel Economy

Feb 1, 2016

Developer Country Garden Holdings recently unveiled Southeast Asia’s newest, largest green city, Forest City, located on four manmade islands in Iskandar. Expected to require an investment of $58.3 billion over the next two decades, it is hoped Forest City will help drive the economy both in Iskandar and Singapore. Designed as a role model for destinations of the future, the green city will feature vertical foliage and high-efficiency, sustainable public transportation. With the correct precautions, Forest City will cause absolutely zero environmental impact to the surrounding region.

The first phase of the city will include two- to four-bedroom condominiums, ranging from 818 to 1,915 square feet, available for purchase to residents of Malaysia, Singapore and China. The condos will be fitted with fitness clubs and pools, and give residents access to shopping, green space and entertainment.

“Forest City is the first-of-its-kind mega development in Southeast Asia — car-free zone, luxury green living coexists with smart technologies and amenities. Forest City is surrounded by the wonders of nature and is of close proximity to centres of education, healthcare, transportation, financial centres and leisure attractions. Forest City is a city for the future, a vision and longing that was born out of 30 years of experience influenced by China’s pace of internationalization,” said Mr. Mo Bin, CEO, Country Garden Holdings.
