Major Growth Among Business Travelers For Uber, Lyft

Sep 21, 2016
Daily

Travel expense management tool Certify released results of its Q2 study of the travel industry, and the data shows major growth for ride-hailing companies Uber and Lyft among business travelers. Some 10 million business receipts and expenses showed Uber and Lyft are dominating the market in terms of ubiquity and number of users, controlling “49 percent of the overall ground transportation category nationwide.” Robert Neveu, CEO, Certify, said, “Our data shows the real-time transformation of the ground transportation category and how modern business travelers have wholly embraced ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft.” “The market continues to grow at an incredible pace,” he said, “and competition is getting sharper and more sophisticated. I think what we’re seeing now is really the emergence of the kind of market forces you find in more mature industries. Forces that will invariably drive downward pressure on pricing, as well as an increased demand for new and better services in the future. Ride-hailing was bent on disruption from the beginning, and by the looks of it there’s a lot more change to come.” Newsletter sign-up

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.

Review: InterContinental Barcelona

When searching for a place to stay in Barcelona, I was picky. I wanted a well-situated hotel to access all the city has to offer and to serve as a respite from the hustle and bustle of the Spanish hot spot. My search led me to InterContinental Barcelona.
