Africa’s most well known island is the focus of Magical Madagascar, a new offering in the roster of personalized safaris that make up African Travel, Inc.’s extensive portfolio. Offered on select dates throughout 2014, the 10-day trips take in the assorted lemur species that make their home in the rainforest of the Perinet Reserve in Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, including a canoe and photography expedition to a private lemur island.
By the fourth day, the journey extends to hiking in the park to enjoy native orchids, the Sacred Waterfall Circuit and unusual bird species such as red-breasted couas and scaly ground rollers. Next, journey to Mandrare River where the walking destination winds through the sacred Ifotaka community forests and their ancestral tombs, tamarind trees, more lemurs, and the Forest of Zenavo. Accommodations include Le Pavillon de L’Emyrne in Antananarivo, Vakona Forest Lodge in Andasibe, and Mandrare River Camp at Mandrare River.
