The international hotel collection Brown Hotels recently opened the 220-room Lighthouse Athens, with two restaurants, a nightclub and a rooftop pool and bar. The rooftop pool and bar come with 360-degree panoramic views of the Athenian cityscape and several ancient archaeological locations. The property is the latest contemporary hotel to open in Athens, already becoming popular with visitors and locals alike.
Lighthouse Athens joins Brown Hotels’ growing portfolio of Greek properties as the brand’s fourth hotel to open in Athens. Located on the revitalized Omonia Square, the hotel sits adjacent to Brown Hotels’ Brown Acropol and DAVE Red Athens. The new property’s modern design, led by Stavros Peppas Architects & Partners, adds to the ambiance of the trendy neighborhood.

In keeping with the Lighthouse brand slogan of “work hard, play harder,” Lighthouse Athens presents an eccentric design style, with amenities that serve the needs of savvy business and leisure travelers. The first-floor restaurant and bar offers all-day dining, with views across Omonia Square. The large rooftop, with its pool, sun lounges, Jacuzzi hot tubs and open-air bar and restaurant, is a great place to hang out after touring Athens. The property also offers a wellness center, spa and event spaces.
The building, which formerly housed Marika Kotopouli theater, has been redesigned, with original features blending in with modern design concepts. The hotel’s ambiance was inspired by the former history of the Omonia district, the center of the music and theatrical life of the city, reflecting an air of bohemianism and glamour.
Lighthouse Athens thus offers eclectic interior decor with raw and industrial elements mixed with Baroque touches and clean lines. The exposed concrete walls in the lobby are juxtaposed against black parquet flooring, marble furnishings, gold metal accents and plush, velvet furnishings, while the guestrooms highlight vintage wallpaper, mirrored walls and chandeliers, all with a color scheme of teal green, mauve, black and gold.

Guests can choose between several room types — Classic, Urban and Cozy — with each room featuring a walk-in shower, open wardrobe, slippers and bathrobes, Egyptian bed linens and towels, flat HD TV screen with cable, high-speed WiFi, desk, safe, minibar and Nespresso machine. The Urban and Classic rooms also have balconies.
At Lighthouse Athens, visitors can enjoy either a Mediterranean menu in the main restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and an à la carte dinner, or light dishes at the open-air rooftop bar. With a lively events schedule, the property hosts weekly DJ parties, weekend brunches, art exhibitions and more.
Rates in May start at €103 (about $109) per night.

May 30, 2025By-the-cabin Yachting Redefines the Cruise Experience
I wish this day could last forever!” my windswept 9-year-old exclaimed, his voice soaring over the Mediterranean. He gripped the helm of a Bali 4.6 sailing catamaran off the coast of Marseille, his sun- bleached hair whipping in the salty breeze. The scent of the sea mingled with the aroma of warm baguettes drifting from the Côte d’Azur shoreline. Our captain, a seasoned sailor, subtly adjusted course, letting my son feel the exhilarating pull of the wind against the sails. As the waves lapped against the hull, I realized this was no ordinary vacation — this was freedom, unfiltered.
