Following the enhancement of its famous garden “à la française” this spring, the iconic Le Bristol Paris unveils 29 entirely renovated guestrooms and suites, completing a wide-ranging four-year, $196 million renovation program.

Leading the renovations and completing Le Bristol’s eight signature suites is the $1.7 million renovation of the hotel’s Royal Suite. Located on the fifth floor of the hotel with an unrestricted view over the hotel’s garden, the 3,230-square-foot suite is classically decorated in a style reminiscent of an 18th-century private town house, with Louis XV and XVI-style furniture.

The two-bedroom suite features two large lounges and a dining room with parquet flooring by Briatte, which can also be found in the Hall of Mirrors at the Château de Versailles and in the Grand Hall at the Opéra Garnier. The dining room sits up to 12 guests, who can enjoy the gastronomic cuisine of Eric Frechon, head chef of Le Bristol’s three Michelin star Epicure restaurant.

The suite’s two luxurious bedrooms feature patina-covered walls, highlighted with powdered gold. Its two bathrooms, featuring Crema Marfil marble from Alicante with blue cabochons from Savoie, are fitted with twin basins, a bidet, a separate shower and a hammam.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
