Korean Air recently announced plans to upgrade its airport lounges and introduce a premium economy cabin. In response to growing market demand, the airline’s new premium-economy seats will appear in 11 of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which will see first-class cabins removed to include premium economy.
The first retrofitted aircraft will enter service in the second half of this year with a three-class configuration: Prestige (business), premium economy and economy. Fleet modifications will continue through 2026 to expand premium economy availability across more routes.
Korean Air will also expand and renovate its existing lounges in Terminal 2 at Incheon International Airport. These new Prestige Class Garden Lounges will be constructed in both the east and west wings, accommodating increased passenger traffic following the airport expansion and relocation of Asiana Airlines into Terminal 2.
Four of the airline’s lounges at Incheon International Airport will open in phases from August 2025, with the First Class Lounge and Prestige Class Lounge in the west wing reopening April 2026.
The airline will also renovate its lounges at major international hub airports like Los Angeles (LAX) and New York (JFK).
