Kenya’s Elephant Pepper Camp has a new look. The gracefully appointed tented camp in the Masai Mara has been renovated, upping its glamour-camping profile with Indian Raj Campaign furnishings and running water throughout. Four tents have been outfitted with hot water showers. All tents have private verandas for wildlife viewing, while tents designed for families and honeymooners have both a master bedroom and a sitting room easily arranged to fit two extra beds for children.

Professional driver-guides behind the wheels of the camp’s custom-built Land Cruiser Safari Vehicles are members of the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association. They’re ready to share their extensive knowledge of the land and its inhabitants, including lions, elephants, buffalo and leopards. Along with picnics, game drives and walking safaris, cultural excursions to visit with local Masai Manyattas can also be arranged.

Located within the protected lands of Mara North Conservancy, Elephant Pepper Camp has been the recipient of the Gold Eco-rating certification by Ecotourism Kenya for two consecutive years. In the dining room, Italian recipes handed down from founder Stefano Cheli’s mother take pride of place on the table. A library and lounge tent have been added to the camp’s main area, perfect for relaxing, reading and absorbing the staggering beauty of the African bush.
