JetBlue and South African Airways announced a codeshare agreement on flights between the two carriers’ African and North American networks via New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Washington Dulles (IAD) and Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB). Under the terms of the new agreement, JetBlue will place its B6 code on South African Airways-operated flights between the United States and both Johannesburg and Dakar, Senegal (DKR), as well as on connecting flights to select destinations in South Africa from Johannesburg, including Cape Town (CPT), Durban (DUR), East London (ELS) and Port Elizabeth (PLZ). The codeshare is an expansion of an interline agreement between the two airlines that began in 2010. South African Airways places its SA code on JetBlue-operated flights from its U.S. gateways to destinations including Boston (BOS), Las Vegas (LAS), Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Orlando (MCO). “We are excited to expand our successful relationship with South African Airways through this new codeshare via Washington and JFK, where JetBlue is the number one domestic airline,” said Scott Laurence, vice president of network planning and partnerships for JetBlue.
