Celebrating a decade in Chicago, The James Chicago expands on its dedicated art program with a new installation by area artist, publisher, and designer Alex Valentine. Titled Peace & Space, the exhibition includes two vibrantly colored collage paintings in oversized exterior frames positioned near The Patio on the hotel’s east-facing sidewalk, set to be unveiled this month. Valentine, who teaches in both the Printmedia and Visual Communications Departments at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, was commissioned to create these pieces by the hotel in partnership with Johalla Projects. Beyond elevating visitors’ experiences with exposure to art, an impressive catalog of guest services at The James Chicago includes complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel, complimentary mezzanine office workspace, complimentary triple-filtered water, eco-friendly pillow choices from Keetsa, Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Mini iPod speakers in suites and HD smart TVs in guestrooms and meeting spaces with content streaming capability from personal devices and an interactive program guide to area attractions, dining and services. The hotel’s Urban Wellness program curates authentic local experiences for guests that include mind-body wellness activities.
