Hyatt Hotels Corp. is going beyond the traditional loyalty program with the launch of World of Hyatt. The program, set to launch March 1, 2017, is aimed at engaging and meeting the needs of frequent high-end travelers.
Mark Hoplamazian, president and chief executive officer, Hyatt Hotels Corp., said, “Inspired by our purpose, World of Hyatt is about celebrating our members by understanding the people, places and experiences at the heart of their world. The more we understand them, the better we can care for them and design unique experiences with them in mind.”
The new program will feature three elite tiers — Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist. Members will receive more rewards as they advance through the tiers based on qualifying night stays or base points. World of Hyatt member benefits include but are not limited to base points which count toward tier status, including Base Points earned for dining and spa experiences; free-night awards for staying at five different Hyatt brands; and confirmed suite upgrades at the time of booking. Members will earn five base points for every U.S. dollar spent.
The new loyalty program will replace the Hyatt Gold Passport program, which currently has approximately 20 million members. The World of Hyatt program offers more benefits for its loyal members, including the three tiers of rewards as opposed to Hyatt Gold Passport’s two tiers. A transition program has been put in place that will examine 2016 and 2017 activity until March 1, 2017, to make sure each member is matched with the appropriate tier, and the current member discount rate will continue with up to a 10 percent discount with the new program.
