Hotel Pipeline Increases In Asia Pacific

STR Global’s latest regional pipeline report reveals 2,501 hotels totaling 578,114 guestrooms are under contract in the Asia Pacific region. The figure represents a 7.5 per cent increase in rooms under contract compared with December 2014 and a 0.6 per cent year-on-year increase in rooms under construction. The region reported 255,224 guestrooms in 1,021 hotels currently under construction. China accounts for 57 per cent of the new inventory, with 146,322 guestrooms under construction in 464 hotels. Indonesia, with 23,446 guestrooms in 126 hotels, and India, with 22,860 guestrooms in 138 hotels, have the next largest pipelines.
