Workers were removing the drapes and hanging simple shades, grouting tile and putting the final brush strokes on the Hilton Garden Inn Corpus Christi when we arrived. The seven-year-old property was completing the final stages of a company-wide initiative called Project Grow that updated furniture, fixtures and equipment to refresh the brand.

This was the third time we stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn. The buildings always have a great deal of natural light and a soaring entry that feels welcoming. The staff in Corpus Christi was very professional and proud of the property’s new look. A design board in the lobby displayed photographs of the new elements — many emphasize the “garden” aspect of the hotel. New brown carpet with a twig design interspersed with orange and red flowers brightens the hallways. The lobby/restaurant dining area is inviting with modern furnishings, such as a solid silver oval coffee table.

Our suite was ideal for a family or even someone wanting to conduct a business meeting. The separate living room featured a sofa sleeper, a bar area with a microwave, mini fridge, coffeemaker and a television. An especially nice amenity was the half bath beside the foyer. The separate bedroom with a king-sized bed included a work desk and large bathroom. WiFi is complimentary throughout the hotel.

Additional amenities included complimentary parking, a free weekday newspaper, a fitness room, an outdoor swimming pool, a business center, a coin laundry and a restaurant. Guests can pick up a quick frozen entrée form the hotel’s pantry.

The hotel is approximately 10 minutes from the airport, less than five minutes to a shopping mall and next door to a large movie theater. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and eager to please.

We like this brand and would definitely stay again.
