In December, a devastating, unexpected, 220 mph tornado broke through the town of Bowling Green, Kentucky, resulting in great destruction to the community and causing the worst tornado-related death toll in Kentucky history. The community is resilient and continuing to heal, but looks forward to tourism to help bring the joy back to the charming destination.

Travelers can join the rebuilding efforts by signing up to participate in community projects like distributing donations of relief supplies to local families or helping clean and rebuild the damaged land during their visit.
Throughout the past couple months, local volunteers and visitors came together to put in work to rebuild. Local minister Clay Mullins brought plenty of volunteers from near and far to clear trees and debris from houses and roads. The local school district transformed buses into emergency vehicles. Recently, a group of travelers stepped in to relieve local volunteers so they could return to their families and jobs. Other volunteers served meals to hundreds of power line mutual aid workers, visiting from multiple states to help restore lost power.

Dec 8, 2025Peru’s New Airport Plans to Welcome More Travelers to Cusco and Beyond
As of now, travelers visiting Cusco and Peru’s Sacred Valley typically fly in and out of Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, but that’s all about to change. In late 2026 the new Chinchero International Airport is slated to open and replace the existing Cusco airport (CUZ). Currently, international travelers typically fly into Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport and then connect to CUZ, but once Chinchero opens, it will offer more direct flights to Cusco and the Sacred Valley. The new airport, not yet assigned an IATA code, will be eight times larger than the existing airport, with the intent to increase flight capacity and provide an easier way to visit the popular destination.
