Hawaiian Airlines’ passengers can now enjoy the airline’s new premium cabin on its first Airbus A330 with fully lie-flat seating. Arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration, the 18 lie-flat seats are created with leisure guests traveling in pairs or groups in mind. The seats are 20.5 inches by 76 inches and feature multiple power ports, an A/C outlet, two USB connections, seat controls and a tablet-powered entertainment system incorporating a telescoping arm. The new cabin was designed with contemporary Polynesian style in mind, taking inspiration from the ocean, islands and navigation. Privacy partitions are made from natural reeds and resin, and a panel separating the premium and main cabins displays the constellation Makali’i, the constellation that guided Polynesian explorers and was a prominent night sky focal point during Hawaiian Airlines’ first flight in 1929. “Our custom-built fully lie-flat seats and our new premium cabin redefine the leisure travel experience to Hawai’i. In details little and large we have created a new seat and a new cabin to look after our guests in unparalleled comfort accompanied by the authenticity and warmth of our in-flight Hawai’ian hospitality,” said Mark Dunkerley, president and CEO, Hawaiian Airlines. The new Airbus A330 aircraft featuring the premium class will seat 278 passengers, with 18 in the premium cabin, 68 in the extra comfort cabin and 192 in the main cabin. The aircraft will serve Hawaiian Airlines’ West Coast routes in the coming fall months and premium cabins will be rolled out on additional aircraft through 2018.
