Yardley, Pa., Dec. 18, 2012 – Global Traveler hosted its ninth annual GT Tested Reader Survey awards reception Wednesday, Dec. 12, at The Peninsula Beverly Hills.
More than 200 guests gathered to congratulate the respected winners on their achievements. Guests of honor Nikki Boyer and Layla Kayleigh appeared on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Boyer is an Emmy-winning TV host and can be seen daily as the host of Yahoo!’s Daytime in No Time. Kayleigh is the co-host of MTV’s Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew. Boyer and Kayleigh were magnetic hosts for the evening’s festivities and inspired the crowd to action with a speech on the importance of finding a cure for all cancers.
Boyer and Kayleigh urged attendees to donate travel-related prizes to Global Traveler’s charity auction, benefitting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The auction kicks off March 1. Founded in 1949 and headquartered in White Plains, N.Y., The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. Award winners traveled from around the world to accept accolades on behalf of their companies. Nearly 50 awards were presented at the event, held in the hotel’s Verandah room. Guests sampled hotel specialties including Peking duck and enjoyed wines provided by the Wines on the Wing airline wine survey awards winners, also recognized that evening. American Airlines, Asiana Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines and South African Airways donated wines for the night’s event.
In addition to the GT Tested Reader Survey Award and Wines on the Wing winners, the 2012 Airline and Hotel of the Year winners were also honored. South African Airways and Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts celebrated the top achievements in 2012.
