With summer officially on its way out, it’s time to start thinking about holiday travel plans. There’s no better way to celebrate than with a trip to El Palace Barcelona, the city’s most iconic palace hotel, which pulls out all the stops for the holiday season.
Gingerbread Houses
Starting Nov. 27, El Palace Barcelona’s Rooftop Garden transforms into a Gingerbread House for a festive atmosphere and pop-up dining experience. The central pergola will be decorated with twinkling lights, oversized sweets and traditional holiday decorations, hosting a seasonal culinary experience with traditional winter dishes. Additionally, while adults enjoy their drinks and meals, younger guests are invited to a traditional Gingerbread House class to decorate their own masterpieces using cookies, icing and sweets.

Christmas Afternoon Tea
From Nov. 27 to Jan. 4, 2026, join the hotel for a festive edition of its signature Afternoon Tea in the hotel lobby. Enjoy sweet and savory treats while listening to live piano music. Special themed tea experiences include:
- Santa Claus Letter Collection: Enjoy a visit from Santa during afternoon tea Dec. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21. During these visits, children can take a photo and even hand the big man himself their Christmas wish letters.
- Christmas Carols Concert: On Dec. 21, enjoy a special concert filled with international and Catalan carols.
- New Year’s Day Opera Afternoon Tea: Start the beginning of the year off on the right foot with Afternoon Tea and a live opera concert.

Rooftop Christmas Movies
Guests are invited to the hotel’s Rooftop Christmas Cinema nightly from Nov. 27 to Jan. 4, 2026. The cinema is set in the charming alpine-style garden and offers views of the city. The open-air theater features private mini chalets with blankets, hot water bottles, popcorn, festive sweets and a choice of mulled wine with Grey Goose or hot chocolate. Screenings feature popular holiday movies such as The Polar Express, both Home Alone films, Elf, The Holiday, Miracle on 34th Street, The Grinch and more.
