Generation X spends the most per day on luxury travel, according to data from Virtuoso, the global luxury travel network. The report found that while retired travelers spend more overall, Generation X spends more cash each day they’re away. Seniors spend 56 percent more on travel annually — approximately $11,077 — than millennials at $7,110. Generation X spends approximately $8,458 per year at a daily rate of $627, significantly higher than millennials at $527, seniors at $471 and Boomers at $522. According to the report, differences between the older and younger sectors of travelers emerge in what they opt to do on holidays, with 26 percent of Boomers and 42 percent of seniors choosing cruises as their preferred adventures and 38 percent of millennials and 34 percent of Generation X travelers choosing private or escorted tour experiences and 15 percent of both opting for hotel stays over cruises.
