‘Tis the season of gardens in Scotland, from walled to wild. Gordon Castle Walled Garden, fully restored to its original splendor, is notable as one of the oldest and most expansive walled gardens in all of Scotland. The space is more than 200 years old and includes 259 espaliered fruit trees, some are of rare variety.
In the Scottish Borders, Dawyck Botanic Garden is a heady collection of snowdrops, daffodils, azaleas, rhododendrons, beech trees and Douglas firs. Terraced gardens and woodland paths include the Dutch Bridge and Beech Walk.
In Montrose, view the roses, daffodils, bluebells and snowdrops at Dunninald Castle and Gardens. While strolling among the trees, keep an eye out for local residents, including red squirrels.
