The Ranch at Live Oak/Malibu, a results-oriented fitness and wellness retreat, has teamed with the California Health & Longevity Institute at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village to launch The Ranch 4.0. The four-day program, an abbreviated version of The Ranch’s signature seven-day plan, includes diagnostic testing in addition with the ability to stay connected to the outside world.
The partnership teams two recognized leaders in fitness, weight loss and sustainable lifestyle change while marking the expansion of The Ranch at Live Oak/Malibu to a new location.
Following a brief relocation to Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village in 2012 to accommodate upgrades at its Malibu property, Ranch founders Alex and Sue Glasscock recognized the opportunity to expand their services with a likeminded partner to appeal to a different clientele. Limited to 16 guests each week, The Ranch 4.0 is designed to fit the lifestyle needs of a participants who want to embrace a healthier lifestyle, but who cannot make a seven-day commitment.
“We are excited to launch a new phase of the program with the support of California Health & Longevity Institute,” said Alex Glasscock. “The Ranch 4.0 program has been carefully crafted to provide a ‘jump start’ toward achieving maximum fitness and weight loss goals, and to offer guests a unique wellness experience by tapping into California Health & Longevity Institute’s signature programs and services.”
The Ranch 4.0 consists of eight–10 hours per day of rigorous exercise including four hours of morning mountain hiking and an afternoon full of exercise classes including core and abdominal work, weights, body toning and sculpting, and a daily group yoga session. A 1,400-calorie per day vegetarian menu complements the daily activities roster. The all-inclusive four-day program is offered at $3,800 per person. À la carte services — medical testing and evaluation, dermatology, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, spa treatments and energy healing — are available at an additional cost.

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
