Experience Belize’s natural beauty and learn how to record it with a new, week-long tour to Amergris Caye from Frontiers International Travel, led by award-winning photographer, angler and journalist Jess McGlothlin. Participants begin the tour lodging at El Pescador Resort and fishing in the renowned waters along one of the world’s largest reefs. McGlothlin acts as chief mentor for three days of guided fishing for species including tarpon and bonefish.

The family-owned resort is built of mahogany in a traditional Colonial style, and is close to San Pedro Town. The property recently underwent an expansion and renovation of the main lodge’s 14 beachfront guestrooms.

Next up, a trip south to Copal Tree Lodge, where the tour turns to culture and photography. The luxurious, world-class lodge itself is noteworthy: Set within a 12,000-acre nature preserve, the sustainable property is included among National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World.

Photography sessions take place in the nature preserve, along with plenty of opportunities for active outings. Options include cooking classes with Copal Tree Lodge’s chef and yoga classes in the jungle. Participants choose to hike, bike, kayak or go horseback riding. Planned for Feb. 7–14, 2019, pricing begins at $4,805 per person, based on double occupancy.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
