Hilton’s Conrad brand opened its first property in Washington, D.C., last week. Conrad Washington, D.C. is located on New York Avenue at CityCenterDC.
The property offers 360 guestrooms set over 10 floors, alongside 30,000 square feet of retail space on the first floor. There is 32,000 square feet of event and meeting space. The signature restaurant, Estuary, boasts James Beard Award recipients and Top Chef finalists Bryan and Michael Voltaggio at the helm. The restaurant serves farm-to-table fare and seafood from the Chesapeake Bay. The rooftop terrace and lounge combines panoramic views of the city’s finest landmarks with cocktails and small bites. Japanese dining is available at Sakura Club on the 10th floor, with Japanese whisky and traditional afternoon tea.
As part of Hilton’s social impact investment, the hotel partners with DC Central Kitchen to offer culinary internships and youth training programs.
“We are thrilled to welcome the new flagship property for the Conrad brand and Hilton’s first luxury development in Washington, D.C., offering smart luxury to the globally connected traveler” said Martin Rinck, executive vice president and global head, luxury and lifestyle group, Hilton. “The ever-evolving market within the nation’s capital provides the perfect opportunity to bring Conrad’s inspiring design, intuitive service and culinary excellence to business and leisure travelers alike.”
“The opening of Conrad Washington, D.C. proves to be a groundbreaking moment for our city as a whole,” added Laura Schofield, general manager, Conrad Washington, D.C. “Home to incredible restaurants and designer boutiques, CityCenterDC is the perfect location for our magnificent hotel; and we are delighted to be the icing on the cake and complete the second phase of this landmark development.”

Mar 28, 2024Cruise Lines Elevate the Onboard Fine-Dining Experience
It’s been a long time since the food on cruise ships resembled the bland, uninspired fare that gave onboard dining a bad name. These days, cruise passengers can look forward to menus created by Michelin-starred chefs made with top-quality ingredients served in stunning spaces. Choices abound as well. In addition to elegant main dining rooms, cruise ships have created a huge array of specialty restaurants that focus not only on perfectly executed traditional European and North American dishes but flavors and experiences from around the globe as well. In fact, meals served aboard cruise vessels have gotten so good, they’re drawing passengers onto ships: According to a recent report by luxury travel planning network Virtuoso, advisors report after Europe (specifically Italy and France), the No. 2 dining destination for travelers is aboard an ocean or river cruise. “This shows how cruise lines have really stepped up their culinary game, with consulting chefs and new restaurants and making that a focal point,” said Misty Belles, vice president, Global Public Relations, Virtuoso.
