From tiny houses to tiny hotels, the downsizing craze continues. Here’s a new, fun angle: a tiny hotel on skis! The unique experience is available in Northern Finland from January 2019 onward through Off the Map Travel as part of the Aurora Wilderness Camp. While the sky above provides unparalleled views of the Northern Lights, there’s no skimping on comfort inside. Warm and cozy, the space includes a comfortable, generously proportioned bed, table, gas heater with thermostat, gas stove and a dry toilet.

Three separate cabins are available for booking, each sleeping two persons. The cabins are towed on skis into the remote Arctic Circle landscape, just east of Kilpisjärvi, Finland. Guests are delivered to their lodging via snowmobile, where a guide instructs them in building a campfire and how to cook up a few local dishes. Breakfast is also provided, along with snowshoes and kick sleds for guests to get outside and enjoy the setting. Off the Map experts can customize itineraries to suit individual guests.
