Looking for a new favorite museum in a city filled with a staggering selection of great addresses? Next time you’re in London, consider a visit to the William Morris Gallery, open Wednesday–Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Located in Lloyd Park in the northeast corner of the city, the gallery is the only public gallery dedicated to the life and work of noted designer and craftsman William Morris, with a collection also including works by Morris’ key artistic collaborators.

Widely regarded as one of Britain’s most important textile designers, Morris was also an accomplished artist and writer, producing a body of published novels, poetry and important fantasy fiction including The Wood Beyond the World and The Well at the World’s End. During his lifetime, he created more than 600 original designs for stained glass, textiles, wallpaper and embroidery, and is credited with being a major player in the revival of British textile arts. Along with works by Morris that include his Woodpecker Tapestry (1885), the museum’s collection includes seminal pieces by Edward Burne-Jones, plus Edward Coley Burne-Jones’ famous watercolor of Saint George and the Dragon (1868). Make time for refreshment in the new Tea Room, where you can enjoy a local craft beer, tea, coffee and cakes crafted by artisan bakers.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
