Day 2
Start Saturday with shopping. Grab breakfast and peruse the culinary delights at Charleston Farmers Market, open seasonally 8 a.m.–2 p.m., before browsing the 300 vendors at Charleston City Market, one of the nation’s oldest public markets, 9:30 a.m.–6 p.m. For lunch, enjoy Lowcountry cuisine in the restored Victorian house today home to Poogan’s Porch. Wander the city in the afternoon, exploring the historic mansions, including Joseph Manigult, Nathaniel Russell, Heyward-Washington, Aiken-Rhett and Calhoun Mansion houses. You can also head to Charleston Harbor and Fort Sumter.
If relaxation is more your speed and the weather is on your side, spend the afternoon instead at Folly Beach.
Devour more delectable Lowcountry cuisine during dinner at Slightly North of Broad, before a nightcap at Prohibition, with its speakeasy vibes and inventive cocktails.
