Etihad Airways debuted its new premium lounge at Melbourne Airport. The new space is the airline’s largest premium lounge outside Abu Dhabi and can accommodate up to 133 guests. The lounge features floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the runway, a 26-seat dining area and a showcase bar. Passengers will have access to shower facilities, gender-specific ablution and prayer rooms, a children’s room and a luggage room. The lounge particularly prides itself on its dining options. Everything is made in-house by professional chefs using local and seasonal items. Restaurant-style, à la carte dining is offered, as well as a buffet. The bar serves signature cocktail creations from professional mixologists, made with in-house syrups and garnishes. “Blending the best of a fine dining restaurant and a chic city cocktail bar, this lounge is a showcase of intelligent design and sophistication where guests will enjoy the highest levels of comfort and luxury, complemented by our world-class hospitality, culinary innovation and cutting-edge beverage technology,” said Shane O’Hare, senior vice president of marketing, Etihad Airways. Additionally, when Etihad’s Airbus A380 services begin June 1, passengers flying in The Residence will enjoy an extra level of privacy at the lounge. A separate entry will take them to a private space outfitted with the best luxury furnishings and a private lavatory.
