Less explored, but every bit as lovely as its southern neighbors Santorini and Rhodes, Aristotle’s birthplace of Halkidiki stretches in warm, sandy lengths of beachy splendor along the Aegean Sea. Area vineyards, including Kechris Winery, are garnering new attention for their Retsina, a traditional Greek table wine produced with time-honored techniques passed down through families of local vintners. In addition to wine, there’s always Tsipouro. A rather strong (and potent) pomace brandy, Tsipouro is believed to have originated with Greek Orthodox monks during the 14th century.
