In the past year, Los Cabos, Mexico, experienced a damaging tropical storm and a travel warning from the U.S. State Department, in addition to the area’s struggle with the drug cartel and the violence it brings to the area. Despite these problems, Los Cabos continues to offer more hotel rooms, bringing in tourism as developers still flock to the area.

Five new resorts opened in 2017 and more are expected. Big-name chains such as Four Seasons and The Ritz-Carlton plan to open locations as well. As long as they continue to invest money in the area, people continue to vacation in the area. The economy in Los Cabos is heavily driven by tourism so the local government will work with hotels to make sure the area is safe.

With the rise of climate change, destinations like Los Cabos, who rely on tourism, might see a decrease in travelers. Thankfully, hotels still build new resorts.

This is a good sign to potential tourists because it means big companies believe the area will bring in money. However, one major storm could shut down the resorts and force them to renovate.

The extra money might be a strain on hotel companies. Yet, as long as people want to vacation in Los Cabos, there will be developers investing money into the land.
