Delta Air Lines announces new service to Asia with flights between Atlanta (ATL) and Seoul (ICN) beginning July 3, 2017. A Boeing 777-200LR aircraft with capacity for 291 passengers is slated to service the daily route. Delta and Korean Air are additionally expanding their codeshare partnership. Korean Air codes are added to Delta’s service between Atlanta and Seoul, as well as flights to more than 100 U.S., Canadian and Latin American destinations. Delta’s codes are added to 32 Korean Air Asian destinations beyond Seoul, and flights between Seoul and select U.S. destinations. The codeshare additions go live later this year, pending government approval. “Delta and Korean Air are expanding a 20-plus-year trans-Pacific partnership, and we believe the new Delta service between Atlanta and Seoul in conjunction with an enhanced partnership with Korean solidifies our joint position as leading carriers in the U.S.-Asia market. Incheon International Airport is one of the premier gateways to Asia and the strength of our combined hubs and flight offerings gives customers a significantly enhanced portfolio of destinations for travel,” said Steve Sear, president, international and executive vice president of global sales, Delta Air Lines. “Our expanded partnership with Delta allows our customers to travel more conveniently with more options between Asia and the Americas, strengthening our position as the world’s largest trans-Pacific airline. Travelers will benefit from the combined network strength of Korean Air and Delta resulting in greater schedule flexibility and increased frequency,” said Walter Cho, COO, Korean Air. The new Delta service departs at 1:05 p.m. daily, arriving in Seoul at 4:45 p.m. the next day. Return flights leave Seoul at 6:30 p.m. and arrive in Atlanta at 7:40 p.m. the same day.
