Scheduled to take flight in January 2019, Delta Air Lines inducted the first Airbus A220-100 into its fleet.
Delta became the first North American operator of the aircraft at a ceremony held in Mirabel last Friday.
“The innovation, creativity and remarkable engineering skills that went into the design and production of this aircraft is simply breathtaking,” said Ed Bastian, CEO, Delta, to an audience of Delta, Airbus and Bombardier employees gathered in Mirabel.
This is one of the first steps in Delta’s plan to modernize its fleet. Delta’s plan is to replace the oldest 20 percent of the fleet by 2020. According to a release from Delta, the A220-100 represents the next step in passenger comfort. The aircraft features best-in-class fuel performance and provides a spacious interior.
