After a 55-year hiatus, Delta Air Lines returns to Cuba. The airline will begin daily service to Havana (HAV) from Miami (MIA), New York (JFK) and Atlanta (ATL).
The airline is the only existing U.S. carrier to previously operate passenger service until 1961 when it was suspended due to an unstable political climate and profitability challenges. Delta was also the last U.S. carrier to exit the Cuban market with its suspension of the Havana to New Orleans (MSY) service.
The Delta 625 flight is scheduled to depart Miami International Airport at 8:59 a.m. and land at Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport a little after 10 a.m. The flight will be the first official regularly scheduled Delta passenger flight since the suspended service.
Delta flight 448 from New York is scheduled to arrive before noon; flight 639 from Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport is expected to arrive by 1:30 p.m.
“We are pleased to welcome Delta Air Lines’ direct route from Atlanta to Cuba’s capital, solidifying Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport not only as the world’s busiest airport, but also the gateway to the world,” said Kasim Reed, mayor, Atlanta. “I had the unique privilege to conduct a trade mission to Cuba last year, along with several other government and business leaders in Georgia, where we explored opportunities for partnership in the airport management, logistics, food exports, information technology and tourism sectors. Atlanta is well-poised to serve as an important domestic partner to Cuba and this route will open several business and tourism opportunities.”
Delta is among eight carriers granted permission by the Department of Transportation to serve Havana. The airline began offering flights to Cuba in September. In November, Delta was the first U.S. airline to open a city ticket office in the city to support local ticket sales. There will almost 3,000 seats weekly between the United States and Cuba.
Travelers can enjoy Delta Sky Clubs with upgraded food and drink options and SkyPriority lines. In-flight service includes refreshments, free in-flight entertainment and WiFi.

Sep 17, 2026High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture
It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
