Delta Air Lines will grow its international route network from its hub at Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport with new non-stop service to Iceland’s Keflavík International Airport in Reykjavík next year. From May 26, 2016, the carrier will offer direct seasonal service between the two cities with 199-seat Boeing 757-300 aircraft, featuring 20 seats in the premium cabin.

“By next spring, our customers in the Twin Cities will enjoy direct service to six overseas international destinations in Europe and Asia,” said Bob Cortelyou, senior vice president of network planning, Delta Air Lines. “New service from Minneapolis–St. Paul to Reykjavík will open up more opportunities not only for passengers, but also for cargo handlers that import and export fish and other commodities between the two countries.”

Delta also extended its service between Reykjavík and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, beginning Feb. 11, 2016. Previously operated for four months over the peak summer, Delta’s New York flight will now run for seven months, with service starting three times weekly and moving to daily in May 2016. Delta is the only U.S. airline that operates service to Iceland.
