Australia’s devastating, widespread bushfires have drawn worldwide attention and an outpouring of support, including from Delta Air Lines. The airline said it would donate $250,000 to the American Red Cross in support of the Australian Red Cross as part of disaster response and humanitarian relief.
“The record-breaking bushfires have been devastating for many Australians, and Delta has partnered with the American Red Cross and the Australian Red Cross to target resources to help provide immediate assistance to those areas hardest hit,” said Tad Hutcheson, managing director of community engagement, Delta Air Lines.
The partnership between Delta and the American Red Cross dates back to 1941. The relationship includes Delta employees participating in corporate blood drives throughout the year. Delta is one of the largest corporate sponsors of American Red Cross blood drives with 13,064 pints collected in 2019.
Customers can join the effort by donating through Delta’s donation site.
