Rare is the situation where an airline eliminates a fee, but Delta Air Lines has done just that. No longer will Delta charge a fee for tickets purchased over the phone and in person at airports or ticket office locations. “It’s much simpler for our customers to not have to worry if they will pay a fee for ticketing with Delta,” said Glen Hauenstein, incoming president, Delt Air Lines,  in a statement. Delta implemented the fee for phone and in-person bookings in 2005. Most recently, the fees were $25 for tickets purchased in the United States over the phone and $35 in person. Online ticket purchases and any tickets bought through the Fly Delta app have never had a fee attached. Delta says it’s responding to customer feedback from an online survey done in February by milecards.com. Forty-nine percent of respondents who paid fees for tickets bought by phone in 2015 said it was “very unreasonable.” Delta’s competitors are maintaining their fees for tickets bought in person or by phone.
