The Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton opened last week as the collection’s first Icelandic property. Set within a former 1900s, high-end department store, the building’s new life includes an eclectic nod to its past.
The property sits in downtown Reykjavik, near the Icelandic parliament, shopping, dining and nightlife, as well as access to natural and historic attractions. The 50 guestrooms feature natural and Icelandic architecture and design, and amenities include complimentary WiFi. The hotel restaurant and bar, GOTT Reykjavik, serves innovative local favorites with fresh ingredients. The spa features a unique Icelandic bath inspired by the country’s natural hot springs.
“We are thrilled to introduce Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel to our growing Curio Collection, as this hotel represents our first Curio Collection property and our third Hilton property in the great city of Reykjavik,” said Mark Nogal, global head, Curio Collection by Hilton. “This remarkable hotel is full of character and makes for the ideal addition to our expanding collection of distinctive hotels. It provides travelers and residents visiting the property an opportunity to explore and enjoy the amazing sights of Reykjavik in a memorable way.”
“We are delighted to welcome guests to our wonderful new hotel,” added Brynhildur Guðmundsdottir, general manager, Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel. “Whether guests want to visit us to explore the many unique attractions on our doorstep or to simply spend time enjoying our stylish hotel and delicious dining experience, we cater to every type of traveler.”
In honor of the hotel’s opening, Hilton Honors members who book a three-night stay at the property before May 31 earn 5,000 bonus points.

The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
