If vintage camping is on your bucket list, head no further than the Starlite Classic Campground in Colorado Springs, where you can spend a night (or two) close to the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park (one of the highest suspension bridges on the planet) in a restored, themed airstream trailer including the Lucille Ball, Tiki Bago and the Flamingo Lounge. At The Antlers — the first hotel in Colorado Springs — you can stay in the very place where Katharine Lee Bates claims to have been inspired to write America the Beautiful. Nearby, the Cliff House at Pikes Peak, built in 1873 and set against the toes of Pikes Peak itself, has accommodated American presidents, Thomas Edison, Buffalo Bill and actor Clarke Gable. For sheer grandeur, The Broadmoor, dating to 1918, includes its own man-made lake, 54 holes of championship golf, original art and a storied past that includes plenty of Prohibition Era tales and memorabilia.
