Air Canada is implementing a program that encourages travelers to connect through Toronto and visit the Canadian metropolis between flights. Air Canada launched a test version of this endeavor in late 2015 wherein guests could connect through Canada’s largest city and enjoy a mini vacation of up to seven days. The tourism board of Toronto agreed to fund the program, and through this partnership the two entities will seek to promote Toronto as an attractive connection point for travelers between North America and destinations like Europe or Asia. Following the success Icelandair garnered from offering cheap flights through Reykjavik and promoting the capital city as a pleasant stopover destination, Canada attempts to accomplish the same feat with the city of Toronto. High-speed trains will transport visitors from the airport to the center of the city in 25 minutes. On the bookends of a business trip, travelers can enjoy a few hours or days in a thriving city and turn their work trip into one of leisure and luxury.
